A few years ago I had just boarded a plane and was sitting next to my wife safely buckled in our seats. Since I had some down time as we were waiting to push back from the gate, I checked my phone and saw that the market had shifted quite dramatically.
Knowing that the market shift wasn’t going to last long I hurried up and closed some of my positions that I had been waiting for months to do so.
I quickly made the trade and then put my phone in airplane mode.
After we landed from our long flight I was curious to see if what I did was the right move. I checked the market and sure enough, had I not closed out that trade at that time it would have cost me thousands of dollars.
As I reflected on that situation, I was grateful that it worked out that time, but also frustrated at the same time.
What if it didn’t work out???
I thought, what if I was at one of my kids school events and didn’t look at my phone. Or what if I was playing on a beach with my family and didn’t check it at the exact perfect time.
I had this sick feeling like the markets were driving me and my lifestyle instead of me controlling my money.
That experience helped me clarify my approach to how I go about building wealth.
I realized that wealth is not just about money or chasing returns.
Real wealth is about TIME…. quality uninterrupted TIME with those that you love.
In this video I prepared, I discuss some basic psychological needs of all of the human family and how it ties to our wealth creation.
Nobody really talks about this, but it is critically important to your financial safety and happiness.
Enjoy!
