As we approach Thanksgiving next week, it promotes a strong reminder that we have been blessed with a lot.
If you are anything like me you realize that the world moves very quickly and can be a giant distraction from what is most important.
Unfortunately, sometimes it takes tough life events to bring us back to focus on what really matters.
Just this last week a good friend of mine lost her sister to a health issue and in the very same week someone in our neighborhood had a severe heart attack where they don’t know if he will regain brain activity.
These are more dramatic reminders to us that life is fragile and just the fact of being able to wake up and go about your daily activities is a true blessing.
I hope that for your sake you don’t have to have such a dramatic reminder to help you refocus on what is the most important.
This is why Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It allows us to gather together with those we love to think about all we have and been blessed with.
So how can this holiday help us stay happy, healthy and wealthy?
I am going to defer to Wayne Dyer to a blog post called “Staying Thankful” (1):
(If you don’t know of the late Wayne Dyer I urge you to do a quick internet search and read, watch or listen to him. He is quite amazing.)
“It’s my contention that the universe not only will, but must provide you with what you conceive of. So if you complain about what’s missing from your life—including the money that you believe to be in short supply—you’ll be offered experiences that match that energy. When you say, “I love my job, but I’ll never get rich at it,” you’re aligning with a frequency that will give you what you think. This is why, I believe, the rich often get richer . . .
…Rather than asking for more—which implies shortages and, therefore, creates a vibrational match to more shortages—focus on what you have and how thankful you are for everything that has shown up in your life.
To that end, keep in mind a “happiness index” that was recently taken for different countries around the world. It turns out that Nigeria, which is one of the poorest of nations, with the least modern of conveniences, came in at number one for reports of happiness among the people there. The U.S. ranked 46 out of 50, despite having one of the highest standards of living in the world. Apparently, the emphasis in Nigeria isn’t on the mantra of the ego, which demands more, more, more. Emphasizing needing more has built within it the idea of shortage, lack, and I don’t have enough. Consequently, when you think more, you become a vibrational match to experiencing more shortage in your life . . . like it or not!”
Such a powerful way to look at life. Read those excerpts a couple of times and let it really sink in.
My question to you is…
Does the way that you plan your wealth and invest put you inline with what Dr. Dyer said?
Something to ponder.
I am very grateful to all of you and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week with your loved ones.
