Let’s create a crude metaphor for our markets today so go with me for a minute…
Pretend that you are a cattle rancher before the industrial revolution.
The way you live, provide and or thrive all depends on the success of your ranching. There is no amazon or walmart to pick up goods and your closest neighbor is a days horseback ride away.
Your wealth and survival is solely dependent on the number of cattle you have.
On a daily basis greed and self preservation drives you to find and raise more cattle.
The more cattle you successfully manage the more comfortable and wealthy you feel.
But also you struggle with fear of loss because at any moment your cattle could get a disease, stray away, get stolen or lost to a drought.
In addition, you know the only way to stay alive is to actually take one of those cows and turn it into meals for your family and sell some to pay your taxes. And it seems like your family (and Uncle Sam) eat faster than it takes to raise a calf to full grown.
So here is the metaphor, most of us don’t have our wealth stored in cattle, but in the markets, real estate, precious metals, crypto etc.
We feel the same greed and self preservation force to grow or accumulate as much as possible.
And we have the same need to eat and have shelter. This is where we have to turn our assets into meals i.e. cash flow.
Where it would be difficult to find financial peace in ranching in a pre-industrialization age, today we have tools that can safely and predictably turn our wealth into steady cash flow that allows us to obtain growth while also creating guaranteed payments to our household every single month.
This may or may not be a fit you but this strategy has seemingly worked very well for millions of families over the last couple hundred years.
