Memorial Day weekend is upon us and it urges us to look back at the great generations that have gone before us.
Regardless of your current circumstance, if you live in western civilization we have a lot to be grateful for.
Some of that comes in forms of freedoms, some in advanced technology, other items to be grateful for are the speed of travel and communication, and nice warm/cool homes.
There has been so much that has been done for us and it is our job to continue to try and help the world become a better place.
Because much of Memorial Day is often centered around our military I reflect on both of the gentlemen you see below.
These are my grandfathers and they both served in World War II.
I am grateful for what they were willing to do during the war. But more importantly the legacy after the war.
The families and memories they created.
I recently was talking to a potential client that lost about $23k in one day during this recent market downturn.
He was surprisingly calm but said to me “when you think about it as numbers on a screen it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but when you think about $23k, that’s a family trip to Fiji or two years tuition for one of my grand kids.”
It was a good reminder to me of how important the work I am blessed to do everyday…helping others grow and keep their money so that they can create the memories they want to have with their loved ones.
