What a Relief…

When I was a young boy, my brothers and I loved to play “Cops and Robbers”. We had all the classic toys. Cap guns, plastic handcuffs, flashlights…you name it.
We figured out very quickly that the plastic handcuffs wouldn’t hold back the “robbers” because they could just release them or break out of them easily.
So we petitioned our dad to take us to the store to let us use some allowance money to buy a set of real police grade handcuffs.
We must have been really persuasive (or annoying) because a couple of days later we had a pair of shiny new handcuffs.
We had a blast and it really was much more effective at holding back the “robbers.”
During one of our games my brother got locked in “jail”. But this time when we went to unlock him we couldn’t find the key.
We tried to help him slip out of them, but that only made them tighter to the point where his hands were changing colors due to lack of circulation.
We panicked and got our parents involved and eventually found the key to set him free.
What a relief!
During this July 4th holiday weekend, many of you will be celebrating your freedoms with your family.
And regardless of your political persuasion, the freedoms we have now are because of what those that came before us worked and sacrificed for us.
Many of them didn’t even live long enough to feel the effects of their sacrifice.
So when you think of being more independent financially, do you think that is going to come without hard work and sacrifice?
I know you wouldn’t think so.
