Today happens to be my Mom’s birthday! For anyone that is lucky enough to know her has experienced the fact that if you need help with something, she will drop whatever she is doing and jump in with both feet.
I often tell her that the selfless service she gives reminds me of the tree in the classic book called, “The Giving Tree”.
When this book was published in 1964 it was actually hard for the author to find a publisher because the book had a bit of a controversial storyline.
In the story the boy coming up to the tree would take…take…take and the tree would gladly, give…give…give. To the point where at the end the tree just ends up as a short stump.
Today we are not focusing on the imbalance of this give vs. take relationship, but the perspective that giving makes us happy.
Like many of you out there, you will give anything to help your children or loved ones live a happy life.
I remember being at a conference where the speaker on stage asked by a raise of hands, “how many of you are parents?” While looking at a sea of people with their hands raised, the speaker then asked, “how many of you would die for your child if it would save their life?” All of the parents left their hands up proudly. Then the speaker asked one more question, “how many of you live your best life as an example to your children?”
Now the audience was confused, ashamed and some even noticeably upset.
The point that was made over the rest of the speakers time on stage was the fact that those around us notice whether we are playing big or “hiding our talents”.
The way we live shows our kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, neighbors etc. an example of what they can accomplish.
- Are you cutting corners on your health?
- Are you only half committed to building your wealth?
- Do you only sometimes develop your mind?
- Do you let the spiritual side of you dwindle down to a slow simmer?
The thing is it doesn’t just affect you…
Your success blesses all of those around you.
So if you are still looking for deeper “reasons”, like we talked about last week…
Dig deep…
- Decide what it would take for you to get to the fitness level you want.
- Commit to the process to build wealth that is way beyond mediocre and is downright stellar.
- Continue to find ways to develop your mind and spirit.
Although these things might sound “selfish” at first glance, if you peel back a few layers, you will realize that by doing this you are actually creating a great legacy for your children, grandchildren, friends etc.
I by know means am a health expert, a spiritual guru or an intellect to stimulate your mind. However, I have been blessed with a keen interest and series of talents to help in the financial world. If you are ready to commit to transform your financial results, simply reply to this email and let’s find a few minutes to chat.
Until then…
Remember — It’s Your Time…
Steve
P.S. I hope you have a Happy Birthday Mom!
